I was of course saddened by many people’s deaths, but the only deaths that actually disappointed me were Konan and Neji’s. But if I had to pick just one, then I’d want Konan to still be alive.
With every other high profile death in the series, they at least served a purpose - either to drive the plot forward (like Haku and Zabuza’s), to protect someone (like Neji and Chiyo’s), to give certain characters extra motivation (like Asuma, Jiraiya and Itachi’s), or something else along those lines. Konan’s death however, didn’t do any of that; it did nothing.
Firstly, for all intents and purposes, Konan should have defeated Obito; her attack should have definitely worked and was brilliantly thought out:
However, due to the physical manifestation of bullshit that is the Izanagi, Obito survived and killed her. And for what? What did it accomplish?
How good would it have been to have seen Konan become the new leader of Akatsuki, and lead the Organisation away from the Criminal underworld and into new, more respectful territory? That would have been great. Instead, we got this.

The story of Konan, Yahiko and Nagato is truly tragic… it shows how a noble cause can be then taken and twisted by evil people.. I mean, of course, the original goal of the original Akatsuki to protect the weak
